Hey~ How’s summer treating you?

This summer has been a burst of colours for me. From the explosion of aurora in the sky of May to the blooming of flowers in June, the spectacular fireworks over the water of July and the vibrant rainbow of the Pride Parade in August, it's been a season full of life.

Pride Parade

Speaking of Pride Parade, I’ve been in Canada for 10 years but had never cared to join before. The more I thought about it, the more regrets I felt, so I decided to go this year.

West end was the place to be. The whole street(Davie) has turned into a huge party. There was music everywhere and people in costumes, talking, dancing, posing.

Best Butt Contest

One of the highlights was the Best Butt Contest at Celebrities Club. Can’t believe you can see people shaking their beautiful 🍑 for free. The room was filled with people dancing and couples cuddling. It’s on fire ❤️‍🔥

I truly admire the contestants’ courage and confidence — their self-acceptance in their bodies, showing it proudly in front of the audiences. This is some behaviour art. A powerful statement of self-love.

In a thousand lives, I wouldn’t imagine myself have the courage to go up there and do the same thing as them.

In this moment, shocked by the physical beauty and inner strength of these contestants, I couldn't agree more with Oscar Wilde's saying

It is only shallow people who do not judge by appearances. The true mystery of the world is the visible, not the invisible. 只有肤浅的人才不会以貌取人 。世界真正的奥秘在于可见的,而非不可见的。

Fat Panda Express

This reminds me of something I saw at BurningMan. It was my first night at BurningMan after a week of hard work building our camp. I sneaked out with my buddy to see Black Rock City with my own eyes.

It was insane.

There was fire. There was fairy shrimp floating in the air. There was everything.

And there were two naked, fat guys sitting in front of a camp called “Fat Panda Express”.

They were just sitting there. Side by side.

Just being themselves. No shame at all.

I don’t know why. Out of so many bizarre and wonderful things I’ve seen in BurningMan, this scene has stuck in my memory vividly.

That moment proofs me that everything is ALLOWED in BurningMan.

Being FAT, NAKED and PROUD all at the same time is allowed.

Be proud, be brave, be colorful

Back at the Vancouver pride parade, later that night, I met a Japanese girl named Chikako. She’s 31, just came to Canada. She too, was impressed by how outgoing Canadians are. She cried while watching the parade. In her words

In Japan, people are concerned about what others think. They can’t dance, sing, shout or have fun.
Since I was a child, I have lived my life on the path my parents laid out for me. That is, I thought that going to a good university and getting into a good company was the best thing for my life. But when I graduated from university, I realized that this was not the way I wanted to live my life, so I like the atmosphere in Canada.

We all have desires, ambitions, dreams. I hope we hold on to those desires and express them radically, as they are integral parts of who we are as human beings. May your life be as colourful as this summer❤️
